Cross River Rail set to be a blast

AN UNDERGROUND blast is set to take place at the Roma Street construction site on Friday.

According to authorities, the “controlled blast” is to occur underground within the cavern.

“An SMS alert will be distributed approximately four hours prior to confirm timing of the controlled blast,” a Cross River statement read.

To register to receive SMS alerts, please send your name, phone number and home address by email to crossriverrail@cbgujv.com.au or by text to 0419 679 314.

A siren is to sound near the blasting area five minutes before the blast.

Residents and businesses within about 200 metres of the blasting area may hear and feel the controlled blast.

“The sound is similar to rumbling thunder and some slight vibration may be felt,” the Cross River statement read.

Roma Street train and bus station are set to continue to operate as normal, unless notified otherwise.
