A CBTC signalling system developed by Thales’s Chinese joint venture, Thales SEC Transport, has received the China Urban Rail Certification.

The certification marks the TSTCBTC 2.0 system as one of high quality and safety.

Thales is proud that our innovative TSTCBTC 2.0 signalling system was granted the China Urban Rail Certification to be the first certified CBTC product in China,” said Suzanne Tong-Li, deputy CEO of Thales in China and chairwoman of Thales SEC Transport.

The system is already in operation on Shanghai Line 5 and reached the milestone of six million train kilometres to pass the expert review of China Association of Metros (CAMET).

TSTCBTC 2.0 is also in use on other metro networks around China. Thales was the first to deliver CBTC technology to China.

The certification is conferred by the National Development & Reform Commission and the National Certification & Accreditation Administration, providing a unified certification mark. The certification scheme is used to improve quality and safety while regulating the metro market and promoting innovation.

“This demonstrates the market recognition to our innovation capability and the great success of our strategy on localising R&D through the JV. Looking ahead, we will continue cooperating with our partner to develop more innovative technologies and solutions to support the fast-growing Chinese rail transportation industry,” said Tong-Li.
